Confocal microscopy
Our confocal microscopes offer several advantages over conventional wide-field microscopes:
- greater control of depth of field,
- elimination of background information away from the focal plane
- collection of serial optical sections from thick specimens
We have five confocal microscopes at the GIGA Cell Imaging core facility:
Olympus FV1000 with 6 lasers (Olympus FV1000 technical sheet)
Nikon A1R with 4 lasers and timelapse (Nikon A1R technical sheet , Nikon A1R instruction manual)
Leica SP5 with 7 lasers (Leica SP5 technical sheet)
Leica Stellaris 8 with White Laser (440nm to 790nm) (Leica Stellaris 8 technical sheet)
High Resolution Confocal:
Zeiss LSM 880 Airyscan 1 with 7 lasers, timelapse (Zeiss LSM 880 technical sheet , Zeiss LSM 880 instruction manual)
Zeiss LSM 980 Airyscan 2 with 4 lasers, timelapse (Zeiss LSM 980 technical sheet , Zeiss LSM 980 instruction manual)
